Air Purifiers Designed for Volcanic Smog & SO2

Volcanic smog or VOG is formed when sulfur dioxide (SO2) and other pollutants from an active volcano react with oxygen, moisture, dust and sunlight. This creates a dangerous mix of airborne pollutants that can penetrate deep into the lungs and severely irritate the tissues and mucus membranes of the eyes, nose and throat.

The exact make-up of VOG differ depending on how much time the volcanic plume has had to react in the atmosphere. The haze is mostly a mixture of water vapor (H20), carbon dioxide (CO2) and sulfur dioxide (SO2) gas.

These air purifiers are made to better treat the complex pollutants associated with prolonged volcanic activity and to remove airborne smoke, chemicals, odors and other particles with our exclusive extra deep bed of industrial activated carbon blend with Super HEPA filter designed to remove up to 99.99% of fine particles.

Filter Configuration in our ProMedic 5 

AirMedic Pro 5 Plus VOG and  Pro 5 Plus Ultra VOG are using Medical Grade Super HEPA filter on the final stage of the filtration process.

Contaminated air is being drawn through the bottom of the air purifier, goes through the Pre-Filter, then through extra deep industrial Activated Carbon Filter (3" in Pro 5 Plus and 5" in Pro 5 Plus Ultra), and finally through the Medical Grade Super HEPA filter. The clean air is vented out through the top of the unit.

AirMedic Pro 5 Plus and Pro 5 Plus Ultra series, are designed to move 400 CFM and are rated to filter a room of1500 sf, based on the ceiling height of 8'. This produces a minimum of 2 air changes per hour.
